Rose oil (rose otto, attar of rose, attar of roses, or rose essence) is an essential oil extracted from various rose petals.Rose Otto is extracted by steam distillation while rose absolute is obtained by solvent extraction, and the absolute is more commonly used in perfumery.The production technique originated in Greater Iran Despite its high price and the advent of organic synthesis, rose oil is probably still the most widely used essential oil in perfumery.

Components Rose oil

Two major species of rose are cultivated for the production of rose oil:

  • Rosa damascena, Damascena rose, grows in Bulgaria (Bulgarian rose),Turkey (Turkish rose), Saudi Arabia (Taif rose), Syria, Russia, Pakistan, India, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Iran, Afghanistan, Ethiopia and ChinaRosa centifolia, the cabbage rose, is more common in Morocco, France and Egypt.The most common compounds found in rose oil are: citronellol, geraniol, nerol, linalool, phenylethyl alcohol, farnesol, stearyl, alpha-pinene, beta-pinene, alpha-terpinene Limonene, Limonene, p-Cymene, Camphene, β-Caryophyllene, Neral, Citronellyl Acetate, Geranyl Acetate, Neryl Acetate, Eugenol, Methyl Eugenol, Rose Oxide, Alpha-Damascenone, Beta-Damascenone, Benzaldehyde, Benzyl Alcohol, Rhobutyl Acetate, and Phenylethyl Formate.However, the key flavor compounds that contribute to rose oil's distinctive aroma are beta-damascenone, beta-damascenone, beta-ionone, and oxidized rose.The presence and amount of beta-damascenone is considered an indicator of rose oil quality. Although these compounds make up less than 1% of rose oil, they account for slightly more than 90% of the odor due to its low odor detection threshold.

Bulgarian rose oil

Bulgarian rose oil typically has the following qualities:It does not contain the same amount of ingredients as other rose oils.About 283 components have been identified in the composition of Bulgarian rose oil.They are divided into two groups of substances:odor carrier - represents the liquid part of the oil-elemene;Odor fixer hard and odorless at room temperature, but fixes the odor and gives it durability stearyl. Citronellol, geraniol, nerol, phenylethyl alcohol are among the many constituents of elemene with a rose smell, but the typical rose smell is also formed by the presence of some trace characteristic molecules.Contains: Alcohol (up to 3%), Linalool (1 to 3%), Phenylalcohol (up to 3%), Citronellol (24 to 35%), Nerol (5 to 12%), Geranium alcohol (13 to 22%), geranyl acetate (up to 1.5%), eugenol (up to 2.5%), methyl eugenol (up to 2%) and farnesol (minimum 1.4%); hydrocarbons- C17 heptadecane (from 1 to 2.5%), C19 saturated hydrocarbon nonadecane CH3 (CH2) 17CH3 (from 8 to 15%), C19 unsaturated hydrocarbon with one or more double carbon bonds nonadecene CH3 ( CH2) 16CH = CH2 from 2 to 5%), C21 docosan (from 3 to 5.5%) and C23 eosane (from 0.5 to 1.5%).

  • Pale yellow with greenish tinges;

  • Its consistency is similar to almond oil;

  • Intense aroma, rich balsamic taste;

  • It has a perfect combination of liquid and solid ingredients.
