Fractionated Coconut Oil​ is one of many carrier oil choices used to dilute essential oils for safe application on the skin.

Fractionated coconut oil is a fraction of coconut oil where the other fatty acids are separated from the oil for different uses. It is predominantly composed of saturated fatty acids, and it is rich in medium-chain fatty acids.

Fractionated Coconut Oil is sometimes known as “Liquid Coconut Oil”. The fractionation process entails the use of heat at varying temperatures to separate the long-chain fatty acids. Long-chain fatty acids are solid at room temperature and require a higher melting point temperature.

Fractionated coconut oil (FCO) is made from regular coconut oil – but it’s only a fraction of what coconut oil is (hence the name, of course). While regular coconut oil contains long-chain fatty acids, fractionated coconut oil has had these fatty acids removed via processes called steam distillation and hydrolysis.
